Driving in LA - annoyed

Ay Yo! (my NYC greeting)

I'm not one to rant and rave about the location i live in, since i've been a happy enough nomad most of my adult life, but driving in LA (have you heard about this, have people been talking about this), is just atrocious. (and the rant begins....)

I'm tired of people using inadament objects as tools for bullying. Yes, BULLYING! - Oprah talks about it, so it's a real thing. - If i let one guy in, the guy behind me barks and honks and throws a hissy fit, and if i let a guy pass me in his sports car, it's like end of days all around me. Luckily i stop my road rage with Adele...she can really belt it out....and then, those damn segway tours pop up right in front of you at the yellow light. It's like....do you want to get hit or is your forward thrusting motion to hard to reel back in?

I could go all day on this, but i won't, i never would, bc it's boring. (sorry about that btw)

Anyways, i am icing my knee and off to bball. Hope you're day had way less 'grrr i keeeel you' moments in it :-)

Hoops & Swimming

What's Up My Peeps??

I started playing ball again, and if you know me, you know how excited I am about it. The LA Fitness i go to has 2 full courts and a big pool/hot tub. I go in the spa for an hour, then play ball, then back to the spa/pool area. By the time i leave the gym i am like a noodle, it's amazing. If you're thinking of getting back to the gym, or if you've just started and are about ready to throw in the towel, don't. It's so worth it, but only if you have great tunes to accompany it, so make sure the iPod is loaded and charged. ( I listen in b/w pool/hoops)

A friend told me about a conversation he had with his trainer, and it was about why people work out. The trainer asked the guy, "Why do people work out?" Replies with, "To get in shape?" Trainer, "No." He keeps at it, "..for chicks, man....gun shoe.....where's the beach." etc, etc. Trainer, "For confidence."

The simple idea that we can accomplish anything if we're confident....scary and empowering all at once. Guess what? I BELIEVE it. When i am feeling confident, invincible, and hulk-ish at the gym....that's when my creative juices flow best, that's when i'm able to finally breathe and think. It's terrific. The confidence we get from the day 1 workout is great, now imagine day 101. Keep at it.

Hey Ya'll

I'm sorry I haven't written in a while. I guess I wasn't compelled to write. This blog was a great tool for me when I was feeling lost and unsure of my future, but now that I am working five days a week in the industry I've chosen and love my job, that need to vent, and discuss, have dissipated some. I just want you all to know that I am very happy, and I will do my best to write at least every weekend, if not a few times during the week.

Keep on truckin',

I'm Back!!!!!!

Hello All!

I've been gone for some time....this is what you've missed:

I moved into a great apartment with Danny and Chelsey (who I've mentioned in earlier posts). We love our place and we're constantly adding cool things to it and moving stuff around.

I interned at a Literary Agency in Beverly Hills and was hired by them full time after one week! I was so surprised, pleasantly of course. So now I am working full time, everyday, 9:30am - 7pm. I love my job. Every day there's a new challenge and something new to learn. The people I work with are each very different from one another and have so much to offer me because of their varying levels of experience and knowledge of the business.

So I guess to sum things up....I'm a really happy guy. I'm living in a great place with two amazing people. We compliment each other very well. AND I have a cool job at agency that caters to talented writers of TV and Film, AND I get to read great scripts everyday (They're not all great, but I get to read nonetheless, which I love)

I'll try to give updates more frequently. Thanks for reading!

Getting Settled in LA

Being as I am not yet gainfully employed, I am spending my time taking care of the little things, such as opening a bank account here in LA, rearranging my room over and over again, moving furniture around the house, waiting for people to put in the cable, yesterday it was Internet, tomorrow someone is coming to fix a broken piece in the stove and someone is coming to make sure the green substance in the tile cracks in our pink "ladies room", not to be confused with our blue "men's room", is not mold. I wish I were kidding about the bathrooms, but alas I am not. Whoever previously owned this house or designed it must have been going for an old school, traditional vibe. It's a great apartment/house, don't get me wrong, it's just vintage, and some things seem to be dated. Soon enough we will put our 21st century spin on things and the house will be a mish mash of styles and decor pleasing to all generations. I've already begun by adding a 42'' plasma to our "den", which is fun because this will be the family/entertaining/lounging and chatting room, which is also decorated with stained wood panelling and looks like it came right out of a 70's real estate brochure. We're going to IKEA tonight to get some small items, bath mats, trash bins, etc. I am still waiting to hear back from every single person I've inquired about work, the "dream jobs", so to speak. However it's getting to the point where I will have to find a job to get a pay check so I can pay rent, bills, etc, until I do finally land the job I am desperately seeking, and that's OK. Until then, I have enough to keep me busy here in my new home, which I love very, very much. I also love my roommates Danny and Chelsey. Chelsey I have known since first grade and after reconnecting with her here in Cali, told me she and Danny needed a third person to live with, the rest is history. Danny is a singer/songwriter, writer, actor and gives guitar lessons (hopefully to me soon). He is truly a Renascence man, does it all. Danny and I get a long great, like brothers do, and Chelsey is the one who keeps me in line. She is organized, neat, a great chef and is also creative and fun. Danny has those same qualities. Living with these two can only mean good things for my development as an independent man. While I may not be doing what I'd like to be doing out here, well I'm not really doing anything just yet, I'm really happy about this place and my friends. I'm optimistic, maybe too much so, but so what, that everything will work out as long as I stay on top of my calls, emails, the usual harassing I enjoy so much. So, for now, that is all I have to report on, but tune in later in the week and I am sure I will have more to say, perhaps a movie critique, TV commentary, and something about the men coming to work in the house tomorrow, if anything interesting does occur. I'll talk to you all soon.
